July 24th. An-Najah University has recently offered two new academic programs for the Faculty of Media which included a Bachelor Degree program in Public Relations and Communication, and another in Radio and TV. Based on the regulations and directions of the Palestinian Ministry of Education and Higher Education, the two programs are adopted by the University’s Faculty of Media after the University had met all the conditions provided by the Accreditation and Quality Assurance Commission for higher education institution in Palestine. Teaching in the two programs will start by the beginning of the coming academic semester 2011-2012.

Dr. Atef Salameh, Dean of the Faculty of Media, mentioned that achieving the adoption of these two new programs is considered a great advancement for the Faculty since these two have the potential to provide the society with highly qualified professional media specialist. The Faculty has also employed a number of specialists to teach in these new programs.

Moreover, he explained that students will be given a chance to receive not only theoretical knowledge, but practical training and education as well through An-Najah Radio Station and the University-based Public Relations Department where the students will be trained on related subjects in these two locations.

Dr. Salameh also said that the Faculty of Media is currently working on Establishing An-Najah Channel at the Media Center where students are expected to receive training on TV work and the presentation of TV programs.

Furthermore, Dr. Salameh mentioned that the Faculty is considering the introduction of yet more programs including the Bachelor Program in Cinema and the Master Program in Media. The Faculty works continuously on hiring qualified professors to teach the students. The University also sends its students to pursue their study at other universities around the world.

Dr. Salameh thanked the University and its administration represented by its President, Prof. Rami Hamdallah, for its efforts to achieve the adoption of these two programs which are considered a necessary addition to the Faculty of Media and an important step towards the development of media in Palestine.

Prof. Hamdallah thanked the Ministry of Education for adopting the two programs which would provide Palestinian work market with qualified experts. He also explained that the University is on a continuous quest to introduce new programs and majors that would benefit the society as a whole and said that the University will work on offering more programs that the society needs. Finally, he congratulated the Faculty of Media for the new programs and wished them a prosperous academic future.
