An-Najah National University signed an agreement of cooperation with two French Universities: Rein 2 and Bobby Ni, and the French Sport Federalism.  The agreement is for cooperation in the sport and physical education arena.  The cooperation agreement, which aims at training Palestinian and French academics, was signed by Dr. Maher Natsheh, Vice University President for Academic Affairs, on behalf of the University.  The signing of the agreement was attended by five instructors from the French universities.

The French delegation’s visit continued for three days, where a workshop was held at the University's old campus auditoriums on the quality of sport and physical education as a way of communication with the local community.  This cooperation comes as a part of the University' policy in developing the Palestinian qualifications in the physical education.

The workshop was held in cooperation with the French universities, Palestinian universities of An-Najah and Palestine Technology University in Tulkarem, French Cultural Center in Nablus, French Consulate General and French Sport Union.  It was attended by a number of physical education experts from different French universities, a number of sport teachers, a number of the academics at the faculties of Physical Education at An-Najah national University, Palestine Technology University and AlQuds University, a number of the Physical Education Supervisors in the Directorates of the Ministry of Education in Tulkarem, Qalqilia, Nablus and Jenin.

Mrs. Yasmin Shahror, Acting Director of the Public Relations Department at An-Najah opened the workshop.  In her welcoming remarks, she thanked the French delegation for their cooperation, saying that this workshop comes as a result of the joint cooperation between the French Consulate and the University in order to exchange experiences in different arenas.

Mr. Eve Reno, Responsible of French Sport Federalism, talked about the importance of cooperation in the physical education arena between the French and the Palestinian institutions, which was enhanced in many meetings between sport experts in the two countries.  He thanked the administrations of Palestinian universities and the Palestinian Sport Federation, noting that the Palestinian sport is following great steps in the right direction of development.

Prof. Evon Lizarre of the University of Rein 2 talked about the educational curricula that is used today in France, which is classic, interactive for community.  He also talked about the differences among them and the modern methods in teaching physical education. 

Dr. Waleed Khanfar of the Faculty of Education at An-Najah thanked participants for their interest in this workshop, as it is important for communication between sport experts, emphasizing the importance of holding such workshops.  He also talked about the educational curricula in Palestine, the role of physical education teacher in executing the curricula during the sport class at schools.  A number of papers were presented during the workshop.
