An-Najah Ranks First in Palestine and Fifth in the Arab World According to a New Ranking
July 21st 2010. In a new ranking by the Ranking Web of World Universities (Webometrics), An-Najah National University has been ranked first in Palestine, fifth in the Arab world and number 1160 internationally. The Webometrics, which is specialized in detecting and monitoring the activity of the websites of the world's universities, has announced on Monday, 19th of July 2010 that An-Najah National University has been ranked first in Palestine, fifth in the Arab world and number 1160 internationally from among 20,000 universities that were included in the ranking.
This marks a new achievement since the last ranking which gave An-Najah the first place in Palestine and tenth in the Arab world. This indicates the continuous progress and development that characterize the University and its website. Celebrating this achievement, a press conference was organized at the University in which the University President, Prof. Rami Hamdallah, members of the Board of Trustees as well as a number of journalists and reporters participated.

In the conference, Prof. Hamdallah expressed his pride and happiness for this unique achievement saying that he attributes this success to all of the University's staff and employees who have dedicated their time and effort to make the University among the best of all educational institutions locally, regionally and internationally. He also added that the University was ranked tenth in the Arab world just few months ago and here it is holds the fifth place in the Arab world, achieving a substantial progress in a short period of time.
Prof. Hamdallah dedicated this success to His Excellency, President Mahmoud Abbas, the Prime Minister, Dr. Salam Fayyad, and to all the Palestinian people emphasizing that An-Najah is devoted to serve the country and push the scientific movement to the limit. The University has always focused on supporting scientific research and academic work and this is clear through the large volume of researches and studies that its researchers and scholars publish in various fields. He also promised that the University will continue to hold a pride-of-place among other universities and to do its best to achieve more ranks in the future.
Commenting on this achievement, Dr. Sabieh Al-Masri, Chairman of the Board of Trustees at the University, said that achieving unique ranks requires hard work and continuous development which can only be made by the efforts and dedication of the staff and the employees. This success corresponds to the degree of development and advancement that the University has reached over the years. Despite the difficult conditions in which the Palestinians live and the challenges they face everyday, and ins spite of the difficult environment in which the University operates, An-Najah has proved again that it can rise to the challenge and compete even in the most challenging circumstances.
The University, represented by its leadership and its network of employees and workers who coordinate efforts in order to keep it in the lead, has witnessed the establishment of a large number of facilities, centers and departments that are considered the first of their kind in the region along with the services it provides to the society and its concern with providing its students with the best of academic services and study environment.
In its quest to support and encourage scientific research among its students and professors, the University managed to provide them with the proper tools, finance and resources in order to conduct their researches and thus pushing the scientific movement in the country forward. The University has become a leading institution in Palestine as in the Arab world, and became able to compete on the international level with the world's top universities.
The University's website has added a number of services such as the E-Learning program which allows the professors and instructors to upload the contents of their materials, thus enabling the students to reach the material easily. It also allows for a more effective publication of books, researches, journals and studies so as to be available to the public.
