On Thursday, September 14th, 2015 Dr. Hassan Ayoub, Assistant Professor at An-Najah participated in the “Search for a New Global Balance: America's Changing Role in the World” Symposium which was held in Salzburg, Austria.

The symposium was over six days from September 24-29, 2015 and aimed at examining the United States' changing role in the world and the implications of changes in global, regional and national power for the future of the United States as a national state and as a global political, economic and cultural power in the 21st century and beyond.

Dr. Ayoub was a main discussant in a panel titled "The Impact of the Middle East on Global Security". He presented a paper in which he focused on state failure related to US foreign policy in the region and other foundational origins that led to the current melt-down in the region. He also talked about the upcoming US presidential elections and their potential effects on the US foreign policy in the region.

-          The Symposium was organized by the Salzburg Global Seminar American Studies Association (SSASA) in partnership with the Roosevelt Study Center in the Netherlands.

-          Salzburg Global was founded in 1947 to examine and debate American politics, foreign policy, economics, literature, history and culture, and America's role in the world.
