On Monday July 1st, 2015, Dr. Alia Assali, Dean of the Faulty of Education and Teacher Training at An-Najah concluded her participation in the Japan Foundation Fellowship “Zamala” Cultural Exchange Programme in Japan.

Supervised by Professor Seiko Kodama from Tokyo University, the programme included a number of educational and cultural activities such as educational seminars on teachers' rehabilitation and visits several schools and universities in Tokyo, Japan.

During the programme, Dr. Assali met with several representatives of Japanese institutions and stressed the importance of such activities to learn from the unique Japanese experience in the field of education. She also gave a number of presentations to school and university students about Palestine, focusing on the education sector. The students found the information very useful as they had very little background about Palestine.

She also gave a seminar in coordination with the gender Studies Center at Ochanomizu University titled "Women in Palestine”, tackled a number of subjects concerning life in Palestine, especially women’s life, which the attendants found very interesting.

-          The Programme was funded by the Japanese Government

-          The visit was over a month from June 1st-July 1st, 2015.

-          The Japan Foundation was established in 1972 as a legal entity supervised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The foundation is dedicated to carrying out comprehensive international cultural exchange programmes throughout the world.
