An-Najah participates in the first youth organisational conference of the Holland-Palestinian movement in Amsterdam
An-Najah National University, represented by Abdulrahman Al-Duqqa, student at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences and a volunteer at the Deanship of Student Affairs, participated in the first organisational conference that brings together Palestinian and Dutch students at Utrecht University near Amsterdam. The conference was organised by the Palestinian Embassy in Holland and the Ministry of Higher Education in Palestine, and was attended by many academics and student representatives from different Palestinian and Dutch universities.
Dr. Nabil Abuznaid, the Palestinian Ambassador to the Netherlands, gave a speech welcoming the attendees and participants and calling for the establishment of student partnership between the two countries, which will pave the way for future relations between the Dutch and Palestinian universities. Dr. Abuznaid also discussed the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people’s constant suffering as a result of the Israeli occupation and its human rights violations, especially those of students' rights.
The meeting sessions addressed the role of the students’ movements in broadcasting the voice of the Palestinian cause to the whole world, possible cooperation at the University level in order to develop a mechanism for joint action, the role of the European Union in supporting the Palestinian cause, and the importance of employing the international laws and resolutions for the sake of the Right of Return.
Furthermore, the participants agreed to hold the second Conference this upcoming August in a Palestinian university, which is due to host a great number of students from different EU countries, in addition to academics from various disciplines and Palestinian students.
The Palestinian delegate Al-Duqqa also gave an overview on An-Najah University, highlighting the offered academic programmes and the university's achievements at regional and international levels. Al-Duqqa invited the Dutch students to visit An-Najah and learn about the quality education provided.
The Palestinian delegation made several visits, including to the International Court of Justice in The Hague, the Embassy of Palestine, Utrecht University and several landmarks in Amsterdam, the capital of the Netherlands.
