An-Najah National University participated in Napoli Theater Festival held from 7-17 June 2009 in Napoli, Italy.  A delegation of the Faculty of Fine Arts including Mr. Kamal Zaidan, Chair of Applied and Formative Arts Departments, and instructors Mr. Jamal Na'sah, Mr. Hasan Draidi, and the students Wajdi Fa'our and Muhammad Khalil Odeh.  The participation of the delegation came to represent the Palestinian culture, folklore and heritage through traditional proverbs, Palestinian formative Arts and their relation to the symbols, Palestinian poetry and the role of these arenas in confirming Palestinians’ relation and bonding to their land.

The delegation had several important meetings which included a meeting with the Italian President who attended the opening ceremony, and welcomed the attendants especially the Palestinian delegation, showing his sympathy with the Palestinian cause.  The delegation honored the President with a souvenir from the University.  The delegation also met with the President of University of Naples.  During this meeting, Mr. Zaidan talked about the University mission to promote higher education in Palestine as well as its faculties and scientific centers.

The delegation participation was distinguished through giving lectures on Palestinian culture, art, heritage and folklore along with presentations through slides, paintings and poems.  They also presented an interlude of Palestinian Dabkeh, poetry and Oud performance by Mr. Hasan Draidi.

The head of the delegation, Mr. Zaidan, thanked the organizing committee for their good organization and hospitality.  This event was organized by EMUNI, as part of the summer school activities to support cooperation programs among Euro-Mediterranean universities on educational, cultural and scientific arenas.
