The Earth Sciences and Seismic Engineering Center at An-Najah National University participated in the meeting held in Jordan for launching the critical seismic studies, internationally known as the seismic microscope studies.  This scientific activity is organized as part of the seismic triangle project in which An-Najah and Al-Balqaa University, Jordan and other international institutions are involved in.

The project includes providing the area with a number of advanced seismographs which draws maps for the earthquake endangered areas. The work started in April 2009, with establishing the stations of observation in Jericho area.  Dr. Jalal Dabeek, Director of the Center, highlighted the importance of cooperation and coordination in the arena of seismic studies through developing advanced early alarming systems in the area.  He thanked the Swedish Development Agency for supporting the project.
