An-Najah opened two new masters programs, in Animal Production and Clean Energy and Conservation Strategy, after getting the approval of the Ministry of Higher Education. Prof. Rami Hamdallah, University President, declared that opening such programs comes in correspondence with the urgent need of the Palestinian society in the field of animal production. Prof. Hamdallah explained that the Palestinian countryside is in severe need for experts to develop animal production, through developed means and manufactured nutrition, non-toxic medications, the production of improved strains and other important fields of work that are waiting for young researchers to break into. All this could be achieved through the new program; the program targets graduates of veterinary medicine and animal production majors.
The Clean Energy and Conservation Strategy M.Sc Program, provides basic and advanced education in the fields of clean energy and energy efficiency, in both economically and environmentally sustainable ways. It focuses more on the importance of preservation of natural resources of power, especially the clean ones that don’t cause serious environmental damage, like pollution and epidemics or diseases. The program also aims to encourage the decrease in the use of energy consumption and more economic feasibility. The program was prepared and designed by Tempus joint program, funded by the European Union and implemented by the Energy Research Center of the University and in co-operation with the Energy Department of the KTH Royal Academy in Sweden and Berlin Technical University in Germany. The program accepts graduates of the Engineering Faculty majored in the mechanical, electronical, industrial and chemical departments.
It is worth mentioning that An-Najah National University will be the first Palestinian university to provide these two Masters programs and it will start teaching them at the beginning of the new academic year 2005/2006.
