On Sunday, October 6th, 2013, An-Najah National University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Supreme Traffic Council to develop programs and activities that protect Palestinian citizens and increase prosperity.

The university and the Supreme Traffic Council will develop, design, and implement traffic safety programs and campaigns. In addition the university will develop training programs for the Supreme Traffic Council staff. The university’s Roads and Traffic Center will cooperate with the Supreme Traffic Council in project planning and policy development, particularly in regards to traffic safety. They also will conduct field research related to traffic and traffic safety in Palestine. The university will organize students to assist with these projects and other long-term joint projects, such as establishing a national traffic safety database.

The Minister of Transportation thanked An-Najah University for its cooperation with the Ministry and expressed his pride in the high quality of its assistance. He also added that the Ministry is looking forward to working with universities and Palestinian engineers as a whole to develop the transportation sector.

Dr. Maher Natsheh said that An-Najah National University provides all its expertise to serve the community and its institutions, governmental and private, and expressed the university’s readiness to assist all the Palestinian Institutions.

The agreement was signed by Dr. Maher Natsheh, the Acting President of An-Najah University, and Dr. Nabil Dumidi, the Minister of Transportation and Manager of the Supreme Traffic Council. Witnessing the event were members of the university’s technical staff: Dr. Amer Hmouz, Dean of Engineering and Information Technology; Dr. Khaled Al Sahili, Manager of the Roads and Traffic Center; and Dr. Sam Al Foqhaa, Director of Public Relations Department. Members of the Ministry’s technical staff were also present: Farooq Abdulraheem, Chief Executive of the Supreme Traffic Council; Mohammad Jaradat, General Director of the Civil Aviation Authority; Dr. Ahmad Qanadeilo, General Director of the Traffic and Transportation Directorate, Nablus District; Ammar Yasir, General Director of the Comptroller Unit; Mohammad Hamdan, Director of Administrative Affairs for the Supreme Traffic Council; Ra’fat Al Daher, Director of Media and Public Relations; and Makram Daraghmeh, Director of the Minister’s Office.
