A "Study in Europe" Open Day was held today at the University. President Rami Hamdallah opened the event. President Hamdallah said that "Study in Europe" Open Day signals the common objectives for a future of strengthened relations built across the shores of the Mediterranean. "These relations will indeed promote cooperation and partnerships between the EU countries and Palestine in various fields, for innovative and fruitful interactions, and for a fertile dialogue between our civilizations and cultures," he added.

Speaking on behalf of the University, Dean of Faculty of Optometry, said that recent experiences in the relationship between the Palestinian people and its institutions with European friends have proved to be a successful one in different aspects, particularly talking about opportunities for education and scientific research.

She noted that cooperation ultimately involves the recruitment of graduates, sending scholars to pursue their postgraduate studies in different specialties as well as short academic visits or participation in conferences that enrich An-Najah's faculty’s experience and knowledge since European Universities are renowned for higher education and research.

"Our An-Najah students benefit from the information they are introduced to on the different available opportunities and the different academic systems in Europe as well as giving them the chance to enroll in postgraduate programs in Europe particularly those with high scores".

HE Alain Remy, Consul General of France in Jerusalem, said that "Study in Europe" Open Day strengthens the links of cooperation and collaboration between the EU countries and An-Najah National University.

A Representative of European Commission in Jerusalem noted that it is becoming more and more important to establish good contacts between Palestinian and European universities, delivering excellent learning and teaching, research and consultancy directly benefiting the Palestinian students and people.

The opening remarks were followed by presentations outlining a number of scholarships and educational opportunities in Europe. These presentations were followed by a panel of An-Najah's professors having already studied in Europe, who all shared their personal experiences and expertise. Three "Study in Europe Days" were also organized in Jerusalem, Hebron, and Bethlehem.
