With the presence of a number of Palestinian ministers and representatives from governmental, popular, and youth institutions, An-Najah National University together with the Palestinian Future Society for Development and Democracy (PFSDD) have opened the second Palestinian Youth Conference. Dr. Rami Hamdallah, President of An-Najah, delivered a speech insuring the role played by An-Najah in hosting several workshops and conferences which will shed light on different important topics for the benefit of Palestinian society. In his speech, Professor Hamdallah spoke about the crucial role of young people in the development of the society.

Mr. Jamal Muheissen, Deputy Minister of the Palestinian Ministry for Youth and Sport, spoke on behalf of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, emphasizing the importance of exchanging information with those who have experience in youth affairs. Mr. Muheissen congratulated the youth for holding this program and asked for the recommendations of the conference which will be used in dealing with and serving the needs of Palestinian youths.

Mr. Essam Dub'i, President of PFSDD, spoke about the preparations conducted to hold the conference, and explained its importance. Many other speeches were delivered at the Palestinian Youth Conference by such notables as Mr. Malek Al Jaber, President of the Executive Council of the Jawal Telecommunications Company, Aisheh Al Khatib, from the PFSDD, Dr. Mohammad Jarbawi, President of the Arab Youth Leaders Society in Dubai, who made his presentation by video-conference, and representatives of An-Najah Students’ Union. All gave their own perspective on why the holding of this conference was important and about the role of young people in building Palestinian society. At the end of the first day, Mr. Regis Koetschet, the French Consul General was honored by President Hamdallah and the President of the PFSDD. During the second day of the conference, a committee for a Palestinian Youth Parliament was formed to follow up on youth issues and to create the bylaws of the Parliament.
