On Monday, April 27th, 2015, An-Najah hosted Dr. Nabil Bushnaq, the Honorary President of Ibn Rushd Fund for Freedom of Thought, and organized a session on the relations between religion and philosophy.

The session aimed at introducing how Ibn Rushd's brought philosophy and revelation into his writings.

The representatives discussed the fund's role, history and scientific importance as well as the open-mindedness of Arabs and the ties between the East and the West.

Notes:

-          The session was organized by the Department of Sociology and Social Work at An-Najah.

-          The session was also attended by Dr. Omar Ayed, Head of the Department of Sociology and Social Work, and Dr. Abeer Bushnaq, Member of the Ibn Rushd Fund for Freedom of Thought.

-          The Ibn Rushd Fund for Freedom of Thought was founded on December 10th, 1998, in commemoration of the 800th anniversary of Ibn Rushd's (Averroes’) death, and on the 50th anniversary of the declaration of Universal Human Rights. It is an independent organization registered in Germany. Its founding members are mainly of Arab origin who live in Germany. Meanwhile, the fund’s members and sponsors are spread all over Europe, Arab countries and North America. The sphere of activity, however, is the Arab world.
