An election campaign for the Students Council's election
A celebratory democratic spirit was at the University today with an election campaign being carried out on the University’s New Campus in Juneed area. Thousands of An-Najah’s students attended the event. Voting for electing the Students Council will begin on Tuesday, November 4th, at 8:00AM and will continue till 3:00PM when the ballot boxes are closed.
About 19,000 students are eligible to vote and are expected to take part in the voting process. Five student groups representing five Palestinian parities nominated themselves for the election.
Mr. Musa Abu Deyah, Dean of University’s Students Affairs, said that the University’s administration took the decision to carry out the election this year in order to ensure that An-Najah students would be given the opportunity to take part in the democratic process of elections. Mr. Abu Deyah added that it is necessary and vital that students enjoy the democratic process of electing their students council and thus enhance the values of democracy in the Palestinian soceity. “I felt that campaigning went very well,” he noted.
