Ah-Najah National University hosted today His Excellency Ambassador of Japan in Tel Aviv Mr. Haruhisa Takeuchi. Mr. Takeuchi was accompanied by Mr. Yamamoto Hideaki, Deputy Representative of Japan, Mr. Kurimoto Tomohiko, Attaché’ for Culture & Information, and Mr. Nezar Marouf, Assistant for Culture & Information.  The Ambassador initially met with President Rami Hamdallah to discuss cooperation between the Japanese Representative Office through its different sections and An-Najah National University.  They were joined by President Assistant for International and Strategic Affairs, Ms. Yasmine Shahrour from the International Affairs Office, and Dr. Walid Basha, a Japanese Graduate from the Faculty of Medicine.
Next an origami workshop was conducted at the Faculty of Fine Arts by Dr. Walid al Basha.This was followed by a visit to the Faculty of Science Radiation Lab, which was conducted by Dr. Nidal Dweikat, from the Faculty of Science. Robot and Solar System demonstrations at the Faculty of Engineering by the Dean of Engineering rounded out Mr. Haruhisa Takeuchi’s visit to the New Campus.There was then a meeting with Japanese graduates Dr. Walid Basha, PhD in Molecular Biology, Dr. Nidal Dweikat, PhD in Physics, and Dr. Sam Foqaha, who participated last November in a four week study visit to Japan, which was fully funded by the Japanese Representative Office.
The Japanese film, “Swing Girl”, was shown on the New Campus, and another film, “The Face of Jizo” will be shown at Prince Turki Bin Abdul Aziz Auditorium at 6pm on Wednesday October 7th.
