A Workshop on Seismic Engineering and Disasters’ Management at An-Najah
The Earth Sciences and Seismic Engineering Center (ESSEC) at An-Najah and the Engineering Union- Jerusalem Center and Nablus Branch organized a workshop on seismic engineering and disasters management with the presence of representatives of civil defense officers, the National Committee for Disasters Management, representative of ministries, governmental and non-governmental institutions. The workshop was organized at the Conferences Room in the University’s Library and under the patronage of Prof. Rami Hamdallah.

Dr. Muhammad Hannon, Vice University President for Community Affairs, in his welcoming remarks, pointed out the importance of such workshops for public safety. He said that the University's message is increasing awareness on disaster management. He also noted the importance of the ESSEC in providing services to serve the community needs.
Eng. Ibrahim Ghazal of Engineering Union, Nablus Branch, noted the importance of such workshop, and he stressed the important role of the ESSEC. He also talked about the special relations of cooperation and coordination between the Union and the University. Dr. Jalal Dabeek, Director of the Center and Vice President of the International Committee for Reducing Disaster, gave a lecture on seismic engineering. The lecture focused on reducing disastrous risks, the international strategy to reduce disasters (ISRD) and Hugo Framework to face disasters.
