A Workshop on Disaster Management
Under the patronage of H.E. Dr. Hussein AlA'raj, Governor of Hebron, the Union of Engineers, Hebron Branch, organized in cooperation with Earth Sciences and Seismic Engineering Center (ESSEC) at An-Najah National University a workshop on disasters and management in Hebron. The event was attended by a large number of engineers, civil defense officers, and representatives of municipalities, and private institutions in Hebron.

Chair of Engineers Union Branch of Hebron, Eng. Ishaq Sadr, welcomed the participants and he appreciated efforts done by the ESSEC to reduce disasters dangers in Palestine.
Hebron's Governor, Dr. Hussein Al-A'raj, in his welcoming remarks, stated that safety and security matters are key elements in life of Palestinian community. He said that it is necessary to spread awareness on the best methods to face natural disasters.
Dr. Jalal Dabeek gave two lectures on strategic planning for facing disasters, dangers evaluation, and an entrance to International Strategy to reduce disasters (UN-ISDR), Hugo Framework (2005-2015) for building nations and communities' abilities to face disasters. The second lecture included evaluation of damages and collapses after disasters, the seismic nature of the area, ability to be damaged by an earthquake for current buildings and other related issues.
