A Workshop at the University on 3D Animation and Graphic Design

On May 10th 2010, in cooperation between the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University and a number of local and international institutions, the faculty received Mr. Hussam Al-Khatib, the Director of the Dimension Studio Company for animation and media production. Mr. Al-Khatib organized a workshop in which he spoke about 3D animation and its relationship with graphic design as well as production, special effects, games programming, animation types, its psychological impact and the modern techniques used in film production. The workshop was coordinated by Dr. Muhammad Shakhshir, the instructor at the Graphic Design Department and Mr. Mohammed Salameh, Public Relations Coordinator at the Department.

In his lecture, Mr. Al-Khatib spoke about 3D animation, the history of its establishment and development how it is produced and the programs used in its production. He also spoke about the Maya 3D Animation program which is used to design 3D animations, science fiction movies, and video games.
Mr. Khatib further presented some of his works to the students and exchanged ideas and points of view with them. After that, he met with Dr. Hasan N'erat, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the University, and discussed the possibility of integrating 3D animation industry and design into the graphic design curriculum so as to enable the students to learn more about this field.
