A Student from the University Wins the Investigative Reporter Award 2009

On February 28th 2010, Majdoleen Hassouneh, a student of Journalism at the University, won the Inquirer Award 2009 as the best investigative reporter in the Youth category (25 years and under). Majdoleen won the award for her written report titled "Medicine in Palestine….a Test Field and Crimes without Evidences". The celebration was held in the Four Season Hotel in Amman, Jordan under the patronage of Princess Reem Ali, Dr. Nabil Sharif, Minister of Information in Jordan, as well as Lord Norman Fowler, Chairman of Thomson Foundation.
University President, Prof, Rami Hamdallah, congratulated Majdoleen Hassouneh for her distinguished achievement and hard work, and the teaching staff at the Faculty of Journalism and Mass Media for its continuous effort to produce such unique students and hoped to continue to make similar achievements in the future.
This is the fifth year for The Inquirer Award project in the region since its launch. Journalists from Jordan, Syria, Iraq, Palestine and Lebanon participated in the program this year which included three categories: 154 print news reporting, 38 television reporting and 24 photojournalists.
The Inquirer Award project aims to raise the professional standard of investigative reporters, as well as highlighting the effort that distinguished journalists are carrying out in this field.
Thomson Foundation was established in 1962 and is run by a small core staff from the head office in Cardiff, Wales. The Foundation works with a dedicated highly experienced team that consists of 60 specialists in the field media who conduct workshops, training courses, and seminars in more than 40 countries in the world. Thomson has also managed media projects for a number of governments, media organizations and NGOs in many countries in the Middle East, Asia and Eastern Europe.
The Foundation works in the field of practical training and development of journalists and technicians' skills who work in the field of press, television or radio. It is a non-profit organization and is considered among Europe's biggest media organizations that play a major role in providing practical training for journalists, technicians, as well as television, radio and press production teams.
