On June 5th 2010, the University President, Prof. Rami Hamdallah, said in a press conference that was held in his office at the Old Campus, that under the auspices of his Excellency President Mahmoud Abbas, the University will celebrate the 30th graduation commencement on June 6th 2010. The ceremony will be held at the Prince Turki Bin Abdul Aziz Theater at the New Campus and will continue until Thursday June 10th 2010. More than 2705 students from different faculties at the University will be honored in the celebration this year.

Prof. Hamdallah added that the celebration will include the inauguration of the new library and the Media Center which both have an area of 8214 square meters and consist of seven floors. The library occupies the first six floors and includes several open halls and computer labs, while the Media Center contains training halls, administrative offices and a computer lab. The Media Center also includes the audio recording studios of the University FM Station in addition to the audio control room, broadcasting room, and the multimedia room.
In addition to the Media Center and the new library, Prof. Hamdallah also spoke about the new central underground stores which will be used to store equipment and devices that belong to the Faculty of Nursing and the Faculty of Science.
In the conference, the President further said that the University has acquired the license needed for running the Media Center. It also succeeded in acquiring approval on a number of new Bachelor programs such as the Tourism and Archeology Bachelor program, the Family Medicine and the Biological and Medical Sciences Bachelor programs. Moreover, the University is willing to acquire more licenses for more specializations in order to meet the local needs.
Regarding the relationship between the University and the international community, Prof. Hamdallah mentioned that the University maintains contact with others through holding cooperation and exchange agreements with a number of international universities around the world with respect to academic exchange and coordination.

The President also explained that the University has made significant steps towards the development of scientific research in Palestine and the support of Palestinian researchers through providing them with necessary resources and facilities in order to conduct innovative researches and help in the development of the country. It also seeks to encourage scientific research by announcing several awards and prizes.
Prof. Hamdallah further spoke about the University's long academic progress that witnessed the development of many faculties, centers and departments which opened the way for the staff and the students alike to take advantage of all the services available to them.
