A Presentation at the University about the Scholarships Administered by the British Council
The Office o f Scholarships at An-Najah University organized a presentation about the scholarships offered by the British Council at the University. The event was organized at the Korean-Palestinian IT Institute of Excellence, New Campus and more than 150 students who wish to pursue their higher study attended the meeting.
At the beginning of the meeting, Dr. Khaled Eleiwi, Scholarships Coordinator at the Office of Scholarships, welcomed the British Council’s delegation, the students and the members of the administrative and academic staff. He thanked the British Council for the scholarships it offers to the students and spoke about the University’s policy to prepare the second generation of staff.
Miss Maram Alfar then delivered a thorough presentation in which she explained the importance of studying in the United Kingdom and why students often prefer it over other countries. She also spoke about the requirements for studying in the UK and how a student can obtain the visa to study there. Moreover, she spoke about the International English Language Testing (IELTS), explained the nature of the test, registration procedures, and the fees that the student must before applying to the test.
Following that, Mrs. Mirna Qassis delivered a presentation about the scholarships offered by the British Council and the requirements for applying to such scholarships, in addition to the types of scholarships offered to the Palestinian students, the study fields that British universities offer through these scholarships, the application mechanisms, as well as the number of scholarships offered to each body.
The scholarships offered by the Council include: Chevening Scholarship, the Said Foundation Scholarship, Durham University Scholarships and HESPAL Scholarship.
At the end of the meeting, the students and the staff discussed several issues related to the scholarships of the British Council and had their questions answered by the Council’s staff.
After that, a meeting was held between the British Council’s staff and the candidates for the HESPAL Scholarship where Mrs. Qassis presented a description about the scholarship and the application mechanism.
