A Norwegian Delegation Visits the University
October 6th 2010. A Norwegian delegation that consisted of 20 academics and workers in the field of education in <st1:country-region w:st="on">Norway</st1:country-region> visited the University accompanied by Patriarch Joseph Saadeh, Patron of the Catholic Church in <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Nablus</st1:place></st1:city>. The delegation was received by Prof. Maher Abu Eid, Vice President for Academic Affairs, as well as a number of instructors from the Department of Political Sciences at the University.

In the meeting, Patriarch Saadeh welcomed the guests and thanked them for their interest to visit <st1:city w:st="on"><st1:place w:st="on">Palestine</st1:place></st1:city>. Prof. Abu Eid presented a full description of the University, its faculties, specializations and academic programs that it offers to the students. He explained that the University contains 20,000 students studying at different faculties. He also said that the University offers a Bachelor degree in 71 different specializations, a Master degree in 38 majors and one PhD degree in Chemistry.
Furthermore, Prof. Abu Eid described the many scientific centers that the University has which provide the society with a variety of services in different fields of life. He added that An-Najah holds strong relationships with several regional and international universities that aim to reinforce academic and student exchange. The University's mission is to equip the local society with qualified cadres who would provide it with advanced services and contribute to its continuous development. Prof. Abu Eid also spoke about the challenges and obstacles that face higher education in <st1:place w:st="on"><st1:city w:st="on">Palestine</st1:city></st1:place> including finance which many Palestinian universities experience.
