On February 22^nd 2010, a scientific lecture about e-learning was held at the University and was delivered by Dr. Luai Malhis, Head of the Computer Engineering Department at the University and member of the e-learning committee. The lecture discussed the definition of e-learning and its use within the academic education at the University.

Dr. Malhis stressed the importance of educating teachers and professors about the concept of e-learning and how to present extra material to the student which he can obtain from the internet. Such materials might include topics included in the lecture, home works, and exams included within the curriculum.

He also added that students will have the ability to access the material inside or outside the University. He then spoke about the types of e-learning including distant learning, integrated learning, and the means available at the University to support e-learning.

At the end of the lecture, Dr. Malhis discussed topics related to e-learning such as the components of the electronic system, how to develop a course using it, the content it provides to the student, as well as the advantages and disadvantages of this system since this requires preparing a team of instructors and programmers to prepare the e-learning course.
