On June 28^th 2010, the International Youth Exchange Program (Zajel) of the Public Relation Department at the University organized a lecture for Dr. Anan Quzmar, the Coordinator of the Right to Education Campaign at Birzeit University. The lecture discussed the right to education issue in Palestine in which a number of international volunteers who are part of the Zajel international volunteering camp participated.

Dr. Quzmar spoke first about the circumstances that higher education in Palestine has gone through during the first and second Intifada and the impact of the Israeli siege on the educational process in the country.
He also spoke about the Right to Education campaign and its importance in defending the rights of the academic institutions, students and teachers, who have suffered a lot over the last four decades because of the obstacles that the Israeli occupation imposes on the Palestinians. He further described the challenging conditions that students experience which greatly affects their academic life as well as the negative impact of economical crises on education in Palestine.

This lecture was organized as a part of the international volunteering camp which is organized by Zajel to educate international students about the circumstances that Palestinian academic institutions face under occupation.
