Under the auspices of President Rami Hamdallah, the University organized today a farewell ceremony for Mr. John Paul Ghneim, Cultural Attaché at the French Consulate in Jerusalem, to mark the end of his service in the Palestinian Territories.  The event was organized at the Office of University’s President in the Old Campus. The ceremony was attended by Prof. Hamdallah, vices of University’s President, assistants for University’s President, and deans of the faculties.  A delegation from the French Consulate in Jerusalem and the French Cultural Center in Nablus also attended the ceremony.

In his remarks, President Hamdallah spoke about his personal relationship with Mr. Ghneim as a good friend to the Palestinian people and An-Najah National University.  He praised the role played by Mr. Ghenim during his term of office at the French Consulate as he worked hard for the consolidation of relations between the Consulate and An-Najah.  President Hamdallah wished him all success and prosperity to continue his future works.

Mr. Ghneim thanked President Hamdallah and the family of An-Najah National University for organizing the farewell ceremony.  He spoke about the strong relationship with An-Najah over his three years of work in the Palestinian Territories.  He said that he is proud that he was able to accomplish many of cultural activities with the University and also stressed that this relationship with An-Najah gained great momentum due to the continued support of President Hamdallah.

Mr. Ghneim said that Palestinian people deserves to have peace and he hoped to come to participate in the celebrations of the establishment of the State of Palestine.  Following that a number of academics at An-Najah spoke their relationship with Mr. Ghneim which was based on mutual respect and trust as well as the determination to promote cooperation between An-Najah and the French Consulate.  At the end of ceremony, President Hamdallah presented a present to Mr. Ghneim in recognition of his role to promote the relations between the University and the French Consulate.
