A delegation from the Swedish International Development Agency (SIDA) visited An-Najah accompanied by Mr. Saher Yaseen, head of the Musical Activity at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.  The delegation met with University President Assistant for Strategic and International Relations, and discussed mutual cooperation in the arena of musical sciences cooperation.

President Assistant for Strategic and International Affairs appreciated the cooperation between An-Najah National University and the Ministry of Education, and appreciated the efforts of SIDA.  She said that Music Department at An-Najah is the only program of music at a Palestinian university.
Mr. Yaseen talked about Gutenberg Project to train music teachers in Palestine. He said that the program will continue till 2010.  SiDA continues to support the project.  Ms. Maria Larson, Responsible for Cultural Exchange at Gutenberg University, talked about the training of music teachers in Palestine. She said that Gutenberg University wants to work with An-Najah University to develop musical sciences in Palestine.Mr. Oluf Sarner of SIDA welcomed the partnership with An-Najah and the cooperation with the Ministry of Education.  He noted that cooperation with An-Najah will be constructive since An-Najah is the only University that grants musical sciences degree.  During the visit, the delegation met with the Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Dr. Hasan Ne'irat, and the Musical Sciences Department's staff.  The two sides discussed cooperation in the development of music education in Palestine.
