A Delegation from Bethlehem University Visits An-Najah
On May 8th, Prof. Maher Abu Eid, An-Najah University Vice President for Academic Affairs, received in his office at the Old Campus a delegation from Bethlehem University who was on a visit to the People with Special Needs Care Office at the University.
Prof. Abu Eid welcomed the guests and stressed the University’s concern with the people with special needs. He explained the different facilities and services that are offered to this group of people to ensure their integration into the society. He also pointed out that An-Najah President, Prof. Hamdallah, continuously supports and provides care to these people based on the University’s strategy to interact with the different group of people. Prof. Abu Eid also gave a summary of the University’s history and development.
Following that, the delegation met with the staffs who work with the people with special needs at the University which included representatives of several departments including the Students’ Affairs Deanship, the Community Service Center, the Computer Lab and the Public Relations Department.
During the meeting Mr. Samer Aqouq, Director of the People with Special Needs Care Office, presented a summary of the Office, its message, reasons behind its establishment, its objectives, the activities it carries out and the services it provides to students with special needs.
Moreover, he explained the network of relationships that the Office holds with a number of local public and official institutions which enabled the Office to offer services, not only to university students, but also to people living in nearby cities, villages and refugee camps.
Mr. Iyad Al-Aqra’ from the Community Service Center described the services that the Center provides and the programs it implements for the people with special needs such as houses rehabilitation and supportive education.
Samar Mohsen described the variety of activities that the Deanship of Students’ Affairs carries out for this group of people which aim to integrate them into the society and engage them in various sport, cultural and art events. Also, Faten Abu Za’rour spoke about the work of the Social and Psychological Consultancy Section with this group of people.
