11th Arab Universities Drama Festival, Jordan
An-Najah’s Deanship of Student Affairs’ Drama group participated in the 11th Festival for Drama at Arab Universities, hosted by Jordan’s Philadelphia University between 19-25 April.
An-Najah’s group’s play “prova generale”, written and directed by Mr. Saeed Dweikat, won the festival’s special award, and student Adnan Bobali won the award for best all round actor.
An-Najah‘s delegation also had several meetings with the heads of the other participating delegations to exchange expertise, and to strengthen the bonds between Arab universities.
An-Najah’s Mr. Mousa Abu Daye, Dean of Student Affairs, spoke on behalf of all delegates at the closing ceremony, thanking Philadelphia University for its hospitality and organising the event. He went on to say:
“Arab unity is exemplified in such gatherings, away from the troubles of politics and complications of life, under a cultural and artistic umbrella. Such events contribute to the cultural and intellectual interaction between Arab peoples, bringing them together. The coming together of students of all Arab Universities is a spark of hope for a promising future for nations, where art is a means of expression”.
Mr. Abu Daye ended the speech by adding that An-Najah’s drama group has also been invited to participate in events in both Kuwait and Algeria next spring.
