An-Najah National University welcomed a high-level delegation from the French Consulate General in Jerusalem on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. The visit, aimed at fortifying international collaboration, featured discussions on the pivotal partnership between the University and the French Consulate, highlighting the instrumental role of both institutions in fostering connections with French universities across a diverse array of academic and research domains.


Dr. Kherieh Rassas, Vice President for International and External Affairs at An-Najah University, convened with the French Consulate delegation, emphasizing the significance of this collaboration. The delegation was also extended the honor of meeting with Dr. Abdul Salam Khayyat, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Dr. Amjad El-Qani, Scholarships Coordinator. Additionally, they engaged with numerous deans, faculty heads, and academic staff, further strengthening the ties between An-Najah University and the French Consulate.

Ms. Mathilde Michel, Head of Cooperation at the French Consulate, led the specialized delegation, which was focused on cooperation and higher education. The visit was coordinated by Amal Burbar, International Relations Officer at An-Najah University.

The overarching objective of the visit was to consolidate and expand the existing bilateral academic relationships with established French institutions and universities. The two parties aimed to broaden the scope of their collaborative efforts in various academic and research disciplines, with a particular emphasis on master's and doctoral degree programs. During the visit, the French Consulate introduced students and educational staff at the University to forthcoming scholarship opportunities, some of which will be jointly funded by both the University and the Consulate. These scholarship details are set to be announced later this month.

Expressing gratitude for the warm reception, the French delegation commended the ongoing cooperation between the Consulate and An-Najah University. Ms. Michel, Head of the Cooperation Department, emphasized the significance of this visit, as it marked her first official visit to a Palestinian university since assuming her duties at the Consulate. She underscored the longstanding collaborative relationship between the two entities and praised An-Najah University for its exceptional academic standing, rapid growth, and commitment to community service through its diverse programs and activities.
