An-Najah Advances Campus Sustainability with New Waste Recycling Initiative
As part of its commitment to promoting sustainable practices and transitioning toward a greener campus environment, An-Najah National University has launched a new environmental initiative focused on waste sorting and recycling across its campuses.
The initiative includes the distribution and installation of dedicated bins for different types of waste—such as plastic, paper, and organic materials—across various university facilities. It aims to encourage positive environmental behavior among students and staff, promote active participation in waste reduction, and increase recycling efforts in line with the University’s sustainability goals.
In this context, Dr. Luay Abu Reidah, Coordinator of the University’s Sustainable Development Office, emphasized that the initiative builds on An-Najah’s ongoing efforts to strengthen sustainability practices on campus. He noted that waste sorting represents a practical step toward embedding the concept of a “green university” and moving from awareness to real-world application in resource management.
Dr. Abu Reidah further explained that the University seeks, through this initiative, to contribute to meeting the criteria of the UI GreenMetric World University Rankings, while fostering a culture of environmental responsibility within the university community. He also highlighted the strong support of the University’s leadership for initiatives that position An-Najah as a national model in sustainable development.
