On May 19, 2024, An-Najah National University hosted Minister of Women’s Affairs, Ms. Mona Al-Khalili, accompanied by Deputy Minister Daoud Al-Deek and representatives from various Nablus-based institutions and gender units within government bodies. The visit aimed to explore collaboration opportunities focused on women’s empowerment and sustainable development.


Dr. Abdel Salam Al-Khayyat, Vice President for Academic Affairs, welcomed the delegation, commending the ministry’s efforts in empowering women and enhancing their role in national development. He reaffirmed An-Najah’s dedication to women’s issues, especially in the fields of academic and technical education, emphasizing the university’s active support for scientific research, leadership development, and sustainable initiatives.

In her address, Ms. Al-Khalili praised An-Najah’s local and international academic achievements, highlighting the importance of such meetings in elevating the status of Palestinian women and empowering them both nationally and globally. She commended the university’s efforts to promote women’s participation across diverse fields, stressing the need for continued collaboration.

Dr. Samah Saleh, Coordinator of the Women’s Studies MA Program, emphasized An-Najah’s belief in the crucial role of women in society. She noted that the program covers social, economic, political, and psychological aspects of women’s issues, further recognizing the unique contributions of Palestinian women.

The university’s leadership team, including Dr. Nidal Dwaikat, Vice President for Planning, Development, and Quality; Dr. Sa’ed Al-Koni, Vice President for Administrative Affairs; Dr. Saida Affouneh, Assistant to the President for Educational Support Initiative; Mr. Raed Debiy, President's Assistant for Community Affairs; Ms. Faten Akkawi, Director of the Training and Project Proposals Unit; and Ms. Summer Abu Mughli from the International Relations Office, also welcomed the minister and her delegation.

This meeting underscores the shared commitment of both the university and the ministry to empower women, promote their leadership in higher education, and advance sustainable development initiatives across Palestinian society.
