An-Najah Receives Japanese Ambassador to Discuss Possible Means of Mutual Cooperation
On Saturday, December 17, 2022, Prof. Abdel Nasser Zaid, President of An-Najah University, received Mr. Yoichi Nakashima, Ambassador for the Palestinian Affairs and Representative of Japan to Palestine along with a number of officials from the Representative Office of Japan to the Palestine at his office to discuss possible means of academic and research cooperation in the fields of medicine, engineering, and agriculture.
The delegation was received by Dr. Abdel Salam Al-Khayyat, Vice President for Academic Affairs, and Miss Summer Abu Mughli from the International Office.
Prof. Zaid welcomed the delegation and briefed the delegation on An-Najah’s mission, history, facts, figures, international rankings and other academic achievements as well as the political and financial challenges that encounter higher education in Palestine. He also commended the role of the Government of Japan in supporting the Palestinian cause and the Palestinian people. He added that the University mission is to provide high quality education, encourage scientific research projects, and serve the Palestinian community.
The delegation was quite impressed with the academic and research achievements of the University especially in the medical and health fields, and emphasized on the importance of developing cooperation in various fields. The delegation also discussed further means of academic cooperation with An-Najah through cultural exchange and joint programs and commended An-Najah's academic progress on different levels.
The visit included a graduation ceremony of a number of students of a Japanese language course offered by the Continuing Education Center at the University in the presence of Dr. Mohammad Sabbah and Ms. Raya Al-Lahham.
