HRH Princess Lara Faisal Visits An-Najah
A delegation of the Global Goals World Cup Palestine (GGWCUP Palestine), headed by HRH Princess Lara Faisal, and a number of female football coaches from the European Sports Foundation of the United Nations, visited An-Najah National University on Sunday November 27, 2022 to learn more about the University’s academic achievements and its academic programs on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
GGWCUP Palestine is hosted and implemented by Human Supporters Association and Rise For Good which is a social enterprise established by HRH Princess Lara Faisal.
The visit included a football training for 90 female players from different governorates of the West Bank in the football field at An-Najah’s Department of Physical Education. The 90 players represent the teams participating in GGWCUP Palestine.
The delegation was received by Prof. Abdel Nasser Zaid, President of the University, Dr. Abdul Salam Al-Khayyat, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Mr. Mr. Raed Debiy, President's Assistant for Community Affairs, Dr. Naeem Salameh, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Dr. Qais Nairat, Head of the Department of Physical Education, and Dr. Sulaiman Amad, Lecturer at the University and the visit coordinator.
Prof. Zaid welcomed the delegation and briefed them on An-Najah’s history, international rankings and other academic achievements. He noted that An-Najah recently has been ranked 1st in Palestine and among top 200 in World Universities in the Clinical and Health Subject Ranking and among best 101-200 universities in the World in THE University Impact Rankings.
The delegation thanked An-Najah for hosting the football training at the University and was quite impressed with the academic and research achievements of the University.
Princess Lara talked about the activities of her social enterprise Rise For Good and stressed the importance of women’s participation in all aspects of society including sports activities, especially football.
During the meeting, both parties have agreed on coordinating the efforts between them to effectively reinforce sustainable partnership in terms of developing joint sports programs in order to promote and achieve the SDGs.
GGWCup is an open women’s activist football tournament designed for women to expand the scope of a conventional sport event and merge true global citizenship with the game of football.
