The President of PAMA Visits the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences at An-Najah
Dr. Yousif Khelfa, President of the Palestinian American Medicine Association (PAMA), visited the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences on Thursday, June 16, 2022. Dr Khelfa was received by Dr. Abdel Salam Khayyat, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Khalil Issa, Dean of Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, Dr. Hasan Fityan, Director of the Department of Medicine, and Dr. Samar Al Khaldi, Head of the Department of Audiology and Speech Sciences at the University.
The visit aimed at discussing possible areas of mutual cooperation between the two parties. Dr. Al-Khayyat discussed with the guest means of academic cooperation with regards to PAMA’s full and partial financial scholarships offered for the Faculty of Medicine’s top students. Additionally, they talked about cases of rehabilitation of children with cochlear implant that have been funded by PAMA.
Dr. Khelfa visited the Audiology and Speech Pathology Clinics at the University to learn more about the services provided for children by the clinics. Furthermore, he met one of PAMA’s scholarships’ recipients who thanked Dr. Khelfa and PAMA for their support for the University’s top students.
The two parties further discussed means of cooperation with regards to establishing joint development projects in the fields of mutual interest. Dr. Khelfa pointed out that PAMA aims to support and improve the Palestinian health sector’s human resources and infrastructure.
It is worth mentioning that PAMA has offered 14 full and 50 partial scholarships for the University’s medical students since 2018. Additionally, it organized several medical lectures given by specialized and professional doctors from the Association.
