The UNESCO Chair on Human Rights and Democracy at An-Najah National University, represented by Dr. Sanaa Al-Sarghali, Chair Holder, participated in a dialogue session about success stories of Palestinian women on the Occasion of International Women's Day. It was organized by the Belgian “Enabel” Agency in Palestine titled “They Lead: Towards a Future of Equality in Light of COVID-19 Pandemic”.


During the session, the participants discussed three stories of successful Palestinian women; namely Areen Renawi, Areej Assi, and Deema Sha’sha’a, in addition to the story of Sa’ed Karazon representing men who support women.

During the session, Dr. Al-Sarghali pointed out that Palestinian woman in partnership with men have always involved in the political struggle for the sake of defending the Palestinian lands and gaining political and social independence as well as gaining their rights and freedom.

She added:" We should all cooperate to empower Palestinian women to overcome social and economic which often keep them from realizing their full economic and social potential by helping them to expand their businesses through business development training and coaching."

It should be noted that the session included screening a film by Dr. Muna Dmeidi, Lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology about women facing the pandemic of COVID-19 as well as a video about Dr. Al-Sarghali.

The meeting was also attended by the Belgian Consul General, Daniel Haven, and the Director of "Enabel", Jan van Wittier, and it was held via Zoom platform.
