NNUH Poor Patient Fund Establishment
In collaboration with the Charitable Endowment Committee, An-Najah National University Hospital’s (NNUH) Board of Trustees established the Poor Patient Fund, which offers medical and non-medical services to poor patients to contribute in alleviating the suffering of the Palestinian families. This leading step was taken to combat poverty in light of difficult circumstances under which the Palestinians are living.
Dr. Abdelraheem Hanbali, member of the hospital’s Board of Trustees, pointed out that the Fund is established to achieve the hospital’s vision, which is to serve Palestinian poor patients in light of the difficult economic and political situations Palestinians go through.
The fund provides its services based on a prior study of the patient's conditions. The fund may cover the full cost of the medical treatment and examinations, transport, and hospital stay. In so many cases, a patient might get government coverage or medical referrals to be treated at NNUH but this does not cover the additional costs of the medical treatment process.
An-Najah National University Hospital is one of Palestine’s leading institutions in the field of health care. It provides clinical education and training to future and current health professionals. Also, the Hospital received the Joint Commission International(JCI) accreditation as the first academic medical center in Palestine, making An-Najah National University Hospital the first academic medical center hospital in Palestine to be accredited by JCI.
