The Legal Clinic of the Faculty of Law at An-Najah University celebrated its distinguished students who have been part of the Legal Clinic project funded by SAWASYA II program.


SAWASYA II represents the primary programmatic vehicle of the United Nations for advancing the rule of law, gender justice and human rights in the State of Palestine for the period 2018-2023. The Project is implemented by the UNDP, UN Women and UNICEF.

In her opening remarks, Mrs. Safaa Balawi, Legal Clinic Director emphasized on the importance of students' role in implementing awareness legal campaigns. She commended student efforts in making these campaigns successful despite the Corona Virus crisis.

Ms. Emmi Kemppainen from UNDP mentioned that the legal clinic is a legal training program that enriches students' skills, involves them in the labor market, and offers them an opportunity to work in legal fields as legal academic staff and defenders.

Mr. Mamoun Attili, also from UNDP, said that the program promotes the role of legal clinics and cultivates students' sense of legal responsibility in terms of offering legal counselling for the marginalized. It also contributes to boosting social security and legal justice.

Dr. Naeem Salameh, Dean of the Faculty of Law referred to the importance of such programs which produce competent graduates who can link theory to practice, lead and serve their community.

The ceremony was also attended by a number of academic and administrative staff in addition to the PR staff.

At the end of the ceremony, students' achievements in the online awareness campaigns were screened. In addition, distinguished students were offered honorary plaques. The students were: Suhaib Sakran, Taima' Diab, Iman Radwan, Dina Khouri, Khaled Rabaya, Shatha Zatar and Marah Turabi.
