On 25 November 2019, the Deanship of Students Affairs at An-Najah ‎University in collaboration  with the Palestinian Working Woman Society ‎for Development (PWWSD), launched a joint campaign to mark the 16 ‎days of activism against gender-based violence in Palestine. ‎

The 16 Days campaign, annually commemorated worldwide, commences ‎on November 25th, the International Day for the Elimination of Violence ‎against Women, and lasts until December 10th, the Human Rights Day.‎

One of the many activities of the campaign to raise awareness and help ‎shift the national consciousness around gender based violence included a ‎public board that was placed in the University courtyard.‎

All students were encouraged to freely share their opinions and experience of gender based violence by completing the sentence, ‘Violence ends when……’.  The resulting statements that are shared will be used as part of a cooperative strategy between An-Najah and PWWSD to set practice strategies towards ending gender based violence.

The campaign aimed to raise awareness about violence against women and encourage University students to work towards ending gender based violence in all its forms (psychological, financial, domestic, intimate-partner, sexual) and demand the adoption of comprehensive legislation criminalizing all forms of gender based violence.
