An-Najah National University inaugurated a greenhouse construction project at An-Najah Agricultural Research and Training Centre in An-Nassariya Village (Sumait plain).

The project aims to offer observation training courses for students and farmers, in order to provide them with the tools and resources they need to learn more about greenhouse growing.

The project was launched as part of “the equitable agricultural production and market systems for resilient economic development in the occupied Palestinian territory (oPt)” project. This project is funded by the Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (SIDA) and implemented by Oxfam in cooperation with the Palestinian Agricultural Disaster Risk Reduction and Insurance Fund, the Palestinian Ministry of Agriculture, and the Agricultural Development Association (PARC). It aims to sustainably increase poor households’ incomes through enhanced employment and income opportunities.

It is worth mentioning that the overall objective of this program is to contribute to resilient and equitable agricultural growth from which small scale women and men producers will benefit in the oPt. The specific objective is to increase the wellbeing and income of women and men engaged in small-scale agriculture in vulnerable communities through improved agricultural and market systems in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, and the Gaza Strip.
