On Thursday, November 29, 2018, An-Najah hosted researcher Rebecca Stein, Professor of Anthropology and Women's Studies at Duke University and member of the Palestinian American Research Centre (PARC).


Prof.  Stein met with Dr. Mohammad Al-Amleh, Vice President for Academic affairs as well as Dr. Raed Nuirat, Head of the Political Science Department, the International Office and the PR Department to discuss possible means of mutual cooperation between An-Najah and Duke University.

Dr. Al-Amleh welcomed the guest and briefed her on An-Najah's history, achievements, academic programmes, faculties, campuses and students from the West Bank and the 1948. He also talked about the financial and political challenges that encounter higher education in Palestine.

Prof. Stein thanked An-Najah staff for their hospitality and mentioned that she is interested in meeting An-Najah students and staff to learn about their future aspirations. She also discussed the possibility of offering academic and student exchange programmes and conducting joint research.

Prof. Stain then headed to the Zafer Al-Masri Auditorium in the Old Campus where she gave a lecture on Israeli militarism through social media which was organized by the International Office in cooperation with English Language and Literature and the Political Science Departments.

At the end of the lecture, Prof. Stein answered the attendees' questions.

Prof. Stein concluded her visit with a tour of the Old City in Nablus.
