On Monday, September 24, 2018, Dr. Mohammad Al-Amleh, Vice President for Academic Affairs received a delegation from Lillehammer University College in Norway that included political sciences and history professors with a group of their international studies and history students.


The meeting was also attended by Dr. Moayad Hattab, Dean of the Faculty of Law, Mr. Mohammad Kobari, Acting Director of the Public Relations Department and the International Development and External Affairs Office, through which the visit was organized.

The visit aimed at discussing possible means of mutual cooperation between the two universities in different disciplines including law, political sciences and history. The delegation also learned about the reality of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the obstacles that Palestinians face under occupation.

Dr. Al-Amleh talked about the possibility of developing further cooperation programmes between faculties and departments where students from both universities can get double degrees.

He also briefed the delegation on An-Najah's students, programmes and scientific centers and explained the political challenges Palestinians face due to the Apartheid Wall, settlement expansion and check points.

The delegation commended the university's academic and research development despite the political and financial difficulties and stressed the importance of expanding staff and student exchange programmes between the two parties.

Finally, Mr. Kobari gave a presentation on a number of success stories for joint programmes An-Najah offers in cooperation with international universities.

The delegation then went to the Faculty of Islamic Law Auditorium to meet with a number of English and law students and professors. The students discussed various topics and delivered presentations on literature, life under occupation, Islamophobia in Europe, and the Norwegian attitudes towards refugees.

At the end of their visit, the delegation was given a tour of the Old City in Nablus, Balata Camp and the Yafa Cultural Centre.
