Zajel Concludes the Activities of Its International Camp for August 2018
The International Youth Exchange Programme (Zajel) of An-Najah's Public Relations Department has recently concluded the activities of its international Camp for August 2018. The camp included 10 international trainers and volunteers who came from the U.K, France, Croatia, Finland and Spain.
The volunteers conducted a series of training workshops for university students. The topics of the training workshops included competency and skills development, English language conversation and ice-breaking in the English language.
In the event management workshop, students were trained on organizing events, activities and projects whereas the English conversation workshop focused on interactive and student-based methodology. Students were given the opportunity to practice English language with their classmates and international volunteers. During the ice-breaking in the English language workshop, students practiced their English language skills in small groups within a friendly classroom environment. The training aimed to boost students' lingual skills and break the ice burg to talk in English in the public.
In the public speaking workshop, students were trained on English language public speaking, body language and the tone of voice techniques.
The camp's activities included educational meetings on the Palestinian cause with regards to political, economic, social, academic and cultural aspects. The camp programme also included field trips to Hebron, Bethlehem, Jerusalem, Jenin, Jericho, Ramallah and the Jordan Valley.
In order to promote intercultural exchange between the international volunteers and university students, Zajel organized a series of presentations on the history, culture, customs and traditions of Brazil, the Basque Country, Galicia, Kashmir, Croatia and Kosovo and the Roman history in England.
Moreover, the camp included a series of presentations, lectures and meetings to introduce the international volunteers to the history of the Palestinian cause given by Dr. Saed Abu Hijleh in addition to other meetings on Palestinian Christians and their role in the political, economic and social life in the region.
A number of field trips were also organized to several places in the West Bank to learn about its environment and agricultural life.
Finally, the volunteers met with Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah who thanked them for their active participation in the camp's events.
