An-Najah Holds the Third UniGov Project Meeting
An-Najah National University has recently held the third meeting of the Improving Governance Practices and Palestinian Higher Education Institutions (UniGov) Project.
The project is funded by the European Union and directed by Dr. Kherieh Rassas, An-Najah's Vice President for International Development and External Affairs.
The event took place from June 26 – June 27, 2018 and was attended by Dr. Nidal Dwikat, Deputy President for Planning, Development and Quality Assurance, Dr. Mohammad Najjar, Director of the Projects Management Unit and Dr. Rani Shahwan, Director of the Continuing Education Centre as well as other partners form nine Palestinian and European universities.
The meeting discussed the progress made on the project which started in 2017. The participants also discussed governance training mechanisms to develop academic and administrative staff competency in the Palestinian universities and the training field trips to the EU countries.
UniGov is a project of international cooperation selected for co-financing under the Erasmus + Capacity Building programme in Higher Education during the period 15 October 2016 - 14 October 2019.
The project addresses weaknesses in the existing governance systems across HEIs in Palestine. By establishing a comparative study with European benchmark universities, UniGov aims to establish a common governance framework and promote the adoption of innovative practices to improve university governance in Palestine.
