An-Najah Hosts the Founders of Space Nation
On Monday, June 4th, 2018, An-Najah's Faculty of Science hosted Mr. Mazdak Nassir and Mr. Hjörtur Smárason, the founders of Space Nation.
Space Nation, a Finnish startup founded in 2013 with the core mission of making space and astronaut experiences accessible to everybody.
The startup has already started by offering astronaut training through a mobile app designed in partnership with real NASA astronaut trainers and will be sending the first trainee to space already in 2019. It is also bringing space back to Earth, making the development of space and the mindset of space travel relevant to people everywhere on the planet.
The delegation met with Dr. Raed Al-Koni, Dean of the Faculty of Science where they introduced him to the startup programmes and training. They also discussed with him possible means of mutual cooperation.
The guests also gave a scientific lecture to a number of interested students and staff members.
The lecture shed light on the Space Nation app that makes astronaut training available to everyone, regardless of education, nationality or economic status, the new space era, the astronaut perspective, why people have a renewed interest in space exploration and why space is important also to people that will never leave the planet.
At the end of their visit, the delegation were given a tour of the New Campus faculties and facilities.
