On Sunday, May 20, 2018, Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah received Dr. Abdul-Qadir Staih, Director of the Turkish Cultural Centre and the accompanied delegation from Turkey as well as Prof. Mahmoud Matar, staff member at the Faculty of Medicine and Health Science and physician at An-Najah National University Hospital.


The visit aimed at discussing possible means of mutual cooperation between the Turkish universities and An-Najah in different academic and research areas as well as developing student and staff exchange programmes and conducting joint research.

Prof. Natsheh briefed the delegation on An-Najah's history, academic programmes, scientific centres, campus locations, An-Najah National University Hospital and the Arabic for Non-Native Speakers Institute as well as the international cooperation with a number of European and American universities.

He talked about the political and financial challenges that face higher education in Palestine.

He also commended the role of the Turkish Government to support the Palestinian people and the Palestinian cause. He stressed the importance of this visit and hoped to expand the cooperation to include other areas.

The delegation in turn commended An-Najah's academic and research development despite the difficult political and financial situations. They also discussed further means of mutual cooperation with An-Najah administration.

At the end of their visit, the delegation was given a tour of An-Najah's New and Old Campus.

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Mohammad Al-Amleh, Vice President of Academic Affairs and the PR Department at An-Najah.
