On Wednesday, March 7th, 2018, Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah, received the General Secretary of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), Mr. Houlin Zhao.

The guest was also received by Prof. Allam Mousa, the Minister of Communication, General Manager Akram Rajoub, the Governor of Nablus, Dr. Khaled Sahli, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and IT, Dr. Yousef Dama from the Faculty of Engineering and IT, Ms. Fatima Sayeh from the An-Najah International Office and Mr. Khaled Mufleh, Acting Director of the Public Relations Department at An-Najah.

Prof. Natsheh commended the efforts made by ITU to support the telecommunications sector in Palestine.

Then, he briefed the guest on An-Najah's history, which started as a school in 1918 and developed into a university in 1977. He added that An-Najah is currently the largest university in Palestine with a strong ranking in the global rankings of universities.

He also introduced the guest to An-Najah's academic developments in various faculties, especially the Faculty of Engineering and IT, which offers 17 BSc and eight MSc programmes. He mentioned that An-Najah obtained the ABET accreditation for nine of its engineering programmes; namely, Computer Engineering, Building Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering and Telecommunications Engineering.

In turn, Mr. Zhao thanked An-Najah administration for their hospitality and commended the University's achievement in obtaining membership in the ITU.

Finally, Prof. Mousa stressed the importance of this achievement, which promotes An-Najah as a prominent international university.
