On Wednesday, February 21st, 2018, Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah received at his office Prof. Bashir Makhoul, President of the University for Creative Arts, UK, to sign an MOU regarding student and expertise exchange, and conducting joint research on creative arts.

The visit aimed at discussing possible means of academic cooperation between An-Najah and the UCA.


At the beginning of the meeting, Professor Natsheh welcomed the guest and expressed his delight about developing academic relations with the UCA in many academic fields. Then, he briefed the guest on An-Najah's history, development, students, campuses, academic programmes, scientific centres and faculties, especially the faculty of Fine Arts. He also talked about the Media Centre at An-Najah and its broadcasting channel.

He also thanked the guest for his visit and expressed hope that they will establish cooperation in many programmes, especially dispatching Palestinian students to the UCA to learn more about new programmes offered at the UCA in creative arts. Professor Natsheh also stressed the importance of having joint exchange programmes for students and staff.

Professor Natsheh also mentioned that despite the difficult political situations Palestine is going through, An-Najah was able to progress in terms of international academic rankings.

In turn, Prof. Makhoul introduced his university, and discussed possible means of mutual cooperation between the two universities, illustrating that the UCA pays particular attention to support creative arts in Palestine.

He also talked about the several programmes that allow Palestinian students and staff to exchange expertise.

The guest also thanked Professor   Natsheh for his hospitality and commended An-Najah’s administration for establishing the large amount of academic programmes despite the political and financial problems it faces. He commended its role as a leading university in Palestine and the distinct academic relations it has with institutions around the world.

Afterwards, the guest had a second meeting with the Faculty of Fine Arts staff and students to discuss areas of cooperation. 

The guest was given a tour of the library, the Media Centre, including its various sections, such as TV and radio studios, as well as the different units that make up the Centre and the Faculty of Fine Arts in the new campus.

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Mohammad El-Amleh, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Ghawi Ghawi, Dean of the Faculty of Fine Arts, Dr. Mohammed Othman Jaber, Head of Applied Fine Arts Department, Miss Aya Jabri from the International Office and Mrs. Noor Hashayka from the PR Department at An-Najah.
