Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting President of An-Najah has received Dr. Ömer Çomaklı, President of Atatürk University to sign an MOU regarding student and expertise exchange, holding scientific conferences and conducting joint research.


The visit aimed at discussing possible means of academic cooperation between An-Najah and Atatürk.

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Natsheh welcomed the delegation and commended the Turkish government and people for supporting the Palestinian cause and Jerusalem in specific. He briefed the guests on An-Najah's history, development, students and academic programmes. He then talked about An-Najah National University Hospital, the Media Centre and the Arabic for Non-Native Speakers Institute.

He also mentioned that despite the difficult political situations Palestine is going through, An-Najah was able to progress in terms of international academic rankings.

In turn, Dr. Çomaklı mentioned that the Palestinian cause is an international concern and said: "We feel at home when we visit Palestine".

He then talked about Atatürk University as it is one of the oldest universities in Turkey which includes 23 faculties including medicine, engineering, agriculture and humanities. He added that the University has 27 research centres of medicine and technology.

The meeting was also attended by Dr. Mohammad El-Amleh, Vice President of Academic Affairs, Dr. Nader Qassem, Head of the Arabic Language Department, Dr. Ihsan Al-Deek from the Arabic Department and Mr. Khaled Mufleh, Acting Director of the Public Relations Department at An-Najah.
