On Tuesday, November 28th, 2017, the French Department at An-Najah in cooperation with the French institutions in the Palestinian Territories held a lecture for the French writer and researcher Professor Gaelle Gillot.


The lecture took place at the library's conference room in the Old Campus and shed light on the Arab women situation during and after the Arab Spring.

The researcher talked about her book titled: "Women, Arab Spring and National Claims". The study shed light on Arab women's situation in Morocco, Egypt and Palestine, the status of women in these countries, the problems they face and their social and political demands in the light of the political changes taking place in the Arab world.

 

At the end of the lecture the researcher answered the student questions regarding the topic.

Notes:

Prof. Gillot is a specialist in urban planning and women affairs and faculty member at Sorbonne Panthéon University.

The lecture was also attended by Dr. Waseem Bishawi, Head of the French Department, Dr. Tharwat Hijjawi, Ms. Yousra Abu Sharifeh, and Ms. Najah Darwazeh in addition to a group of An-Najah's French Department students.
