On Tuesday, July 11th, 2017, Professor Maher Natsheh, Acting president of An-Najah received at his office a delegation from the University of Naples Federico II headed by Prof. Raffaele Porta, Full Professor of Biochemistry at Naples University.


The delegation included Prof. Carlo Vosa, Professor of Cardiosurgery at the University of Naples Federico II and three specialists in pediatric cardiosurgery, echocardiography and anesthesiology and was accompanied with Dr. Souzan Fatayer from Naples Eastern University.

The meeting aimed at discussing further means of mutual cooperation between An-Najah and the University of Naples in terms of academic exchange and joint research. The delegation also discussed establishing a pediatric cardiology unit at An-Najah National Hospital.

 

At the beginning of the meeting, Prof. Natsheh welcomed the guests and commended the University of Naples role in supporting An-Najah and An-Najah National Hospital. He also stressed the importance of the agreement signed between the universities in terms of the international joint master course in Food Nutrition and Technology.

Prof. Porta in turn expressed his delight for being at An-Najah and discussed with Prof. Natsheh the possibility of establishing cooperation in PhD courses in Biotechnology and Chemical Sciences.

Engineer Naseer Arafat, Director of the Civil National Committee for the Governorate of Nablus talked about the importance of the relationship between Nablus and Naples as the two cities bond culturally and historically.

At the end of their visit, the delegation was given a tour of the New Campus to learn about its faculties and facilities and visited NBC where they were interviewed to talk about their visit to An-Najah.

It is worth mentioning that the Italian delegation visited An-Najah National Hospital on Wednesday, July 12th, 2017 and was part of the children's pediatric clinic the hospital organized in cooperation with Dr. Hisham Al-Dweik, Consultant Pediatrician at the hospital.

  • The meeting was also attended by Dr. Mohammad El-Amleh, Vice President for Academic Affairs; Dr. Imad Dweikat, Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Science; Dr. Ma'en Samara, Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Veterinary Medicine; Professors Suleiman Al-Khalil and Jihad Abdullah from the Faculty of Agriculture; Dr. Salwa Khalaf from the Biotechnology Department, Ms Dalal Radwan from the International Office and Ms Shatha Jararaa from the Public Relations Department at An-Najah.
  • The delegation also met Mayor Adly Yaish and Mr. Munib Al-Masri at Nablus Municipality Room to discuss possible means of mutual cooperation between Nablus and Naples.
  • The clinic was supervised by Prof. Saleem Haj Yahya, CEO and Dean Emeritus at An-Najah National Hospital and Professor in Cardiothoracic Surgery.
